Funeral services for Allen L. Willis, age 60, of Ruston, LA will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 21, 2011 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating the service will be Gene Reeves. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.

Mildred Jessie Mae Goree Evans

Mildred Jessie Mae Goree Evans, 91, is the oldest of five children of the late Claude and Zylphia Mae Wilson Goree. She is the granddaughter of the late Walter Scott Wilson and Ida Lenore Elroy Wilson and the late Richard Price Goree and Sally Leola Street Goree. Mildred Evans was born on February 23, 1920, in Simsboro, Louisiana. Sister Mildred Evans departed this life on the morning of March 16, 2011, at the Northern Louisiana Medical Center in Ruston, Louisiana.

Waggoner Engineering Director of Planning and Special Programs Barry Royals suggested the creation of a treatment plant for Lake D’Arbonne water be done in phases. Farmerville water customers would be Phase I and Ruston Phase II. The cost to construct Phase I is $26 million, and the cost to construct Phase II would be $63.4 million.

Albritton’s work on display

The Lincoln Parish Library will present paintings by Sarah Albritton, featuring selections from the exhibition On My Way along with new works. The exhibit will run through April 29 at the Library Events Center, located at 910 N. Trenton St. There will be a reception honoring Albritton from 3-5 p.m. today.

Testing begins Tuesday

Students in the fourth, eighth, 10th and 11th grades will need to show up to school bright-eyed and bushy-tailed on Tuesday morning as they are scheduled to begin Phase I of the LEAP and GEE testing sessions.
