Car burglary suspect arrested

An 18-year-old Ruston man was arrested for allegedly trying to break into cars on Louisiana Tech University campus Tuesday.
Jamikeal Leedward Scott, 18, 1205 S. Trenton St., was charged with attempted burglary and burglary of a motor vehicle Tuesday by the Tech Police Department.
Scott is currently in custody at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center where his bond for the two charges has yet to be set.

NBA season is almost here to enjoy

There are four days until the beginning of the NBA season, and some fans have already experienced heartbreak. Chris Paul was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers and has already brought them happiness. Paul and his new team bowled over the Los Angeles Lakers in the preseason to the tune of 114 – 95. Chauncey Billups also made a good impression on the fans in his debut with the Clippers. Even though it’s just preseason, the sting of Paul being gone will haunt Hornets fans for awhile …oh well, on to more pressing matters.

Tech ready for ‘Statement Game’

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Louisiana Tech University will play in more than just a bowl game on Wednesday night.
Call it a "Statement Game," if you will.
The 2011 edition of the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl is also more than just one of 30-plus games on the NCAA's crowded postseason schedule.

Bowl outcome might affect league affiliation

SAN DIEGO, Calif. —With the ever changing road map of the NCAA, who knows what conference Louisiana Tech University might be registered with in the future.
But unofficially, the vibes disseminating here over the past several days is that pulling off a win against TCU in the San Diego Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl would probably increase Tech's hopes of landing in a more regionally-based conference.

Poinsettia Bowl to feature a number of star players

There’s no shortage of star players on Louisiana Tech University’s 2011 football squad, albeit one that is defined more by “team” than individual heroics.
But when fans file through the turnstiles at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, Calif., today, there won’t be any shortage of potential headliners wearing the red and blue of Tech.

Tech beats Huskies, remains undefeated at home this season

Junior guard Brandon Gibson and freshman guard Raheem Appleby led Louisiana Tech to another exciting victory over Northeastern of the Colonial Athletic Association Tuesday night 56-53 in front of 2,183 fans at the Thomas Assembly Center.
Appleby led all scorers with 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting while Gibson scored 14 on 5-of-9 shooting as the Bulldogs improve to 7-5 on the year.
Tech has now won five of its last six games with all five victories coming by three points or less.

Funeral services for Bea Aulds Couch, age 89, of Spring TX formerly of Choudrant, LA will be held Thursday December 22, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Choudrant, LA. Interment will follow at Sibley Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA.
