Donald H. Tyra

Funeral services for Mr. Donald H. Tyra, age 74 of Ruston, will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 26, 2010 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston with Bro. Norris Corry officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery in Clay under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Tyra was born February 23, 1936 in La Mesa, Texas and passed away peacefully at his home in Ruston Saturday, November 20, 2010.  He was a truck driver by trade working for Sanitary Dairy and Thurmon Oil Company. In his spare time, Mr. Tyra was an avid golf player.

Bulldogs’ grid team giving back to city

While there’s a Western Athletic Conference game at San Jose State University on Saturday, the Bulldogs will also be using part of this Thanksgiving week giving back to the community.

With holiday dinners to plan and the perfect present to find added to the daily grind, many people are pushed to find gifts online.
And then there are those who may be tempted to find ways to pick up a little extra cash while they’re at it. While browsing online, residents run the risk of encountering the many scammers and swindlers who also access the Internet.
Lt. Erica Hanna, an investigator with the Ruston Police Department, said one of the most common online scams encourages potential victims to become secret shoppers online.
