Johnnie Faye Morris Taylor was born March 16, 1957 in Arcadia, LA to W. Harold and Dorothy Morris and passed away in Shreveport, LA on April 3, 2013.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 5 ,2013 at Owen’s Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston, LA family from 5 until 6 p.m. and friends 6 until 8 p.m. Funeral services celebrating the life of Johnnie Faye Morris Taylor will be held 2p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013 also at Owen’s Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston, LA. Officiating will be Dr. Wilton Wall. Burial will follow at Walnut Creek Cemetery in Simsboro, LA.

Tech’s art students receive awards, featured in exhibition through Tuesday

The Annual Student Exhibition for Louisiana Tech University’s School of Art has officially opened and will welcome the public through April 9 in room 103 of the F. Jay Taylor Visual Arts Center.
The show, which features award-winning student work created during the school year, is free and open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Guitar lessons available

Cain Budds, who has been teaching at Ruston Parks and Recreation for almost a year, will be available for lessons this summer. Budds received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in classical guitar performance at Arizona State University where he was a student of Frank Koonce. While in residence there, he served as a teaching assistant and faculty associate in the internationally recognized classical guitar program.
Budds is currently assistant professor of guitar and music theory as well as head of the string area at Louisiana Tech University where he heads a vibrant guitar studio.

Stephen Brooks Jackson

Stephen Brooks Jackson, 31, of Ruston, Louisiana, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at his residence.

Stephen was born March 19, 1982 in Texarkana, Texas. He was in management with an auto dealership and had received his MBA from Louisiana Tech and was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and was an Eagle Scout.

He was preceded in death by his father Jerry Lee Jackson.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Judge Sherry and Buddy Hawkins of Texarkana, Texas; and numerous other relatives.

Thomas Malcom “Tom” DuBose, age 76, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Louisiana Heart Hospital in Lacombe, Louisiana.

Funeral services, officiated by Pastor William C. Willis of Alabama Presbyterian
Church in Choudrant, Louisiana, will be held Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
Visitation will be observed prior to the services from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with burial
following the service.

Funeral services for James Logan Greenwood 21, of Ruston, LA., will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church of Downsville, LA with Rev. Jarrod Bearden officiating. Interment will be held at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church Cemetery in Downsville, LA, after cremation at a later date under direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville.
