‘Weekend of Champions’ set for Tech

When Louisiana Tech hosts Southern Mississippi at 6 p.m. Saturday at Joe Aillet Stadium, the game and all of its surroundings will have a special feel to it.
Not only is the game going to be the first meeting between Tech and USM as Conference USA rivals, but it’s a “Weekend of Champions” theme in Ruston. In addition to the football game, Saturday’s events include the Tech Hall of Fame induction and the reunion and recognition of the 1973 National Championship team.

Bulldogs Aquatics to host meet

Bulldogs Aquatics are hoping to continue a strong season Saturday as its plays host to the Red River High School Swim Conference Championships at Louisiana Tech University’s Lambright Center.
Prelims will start at 9 a.m. while the finals will start around 4:30 p.m.
In addition to four regular season meets there were not awarded/scored, Bulldogs Aquatics has hosted a duel meet with Sulphur Hiigh School in which it won with girls points, boys points, and total team points.

GSU to face UAPB

Grambling State’s football team got its first win of the season last week with a 47-40 Homecoming win over Mississippi Valley State.
It was only GSU’s second win in as many seasons, but Interim Head Coach Dennis “Dirt” Winston wants to build on that with two games left in the 2013 campaign.
“We can’t be complacent,” Winston said. “We have to maintain our focus and come back out strong again — we’ve got two more games to play.

’Dogs hoops to open season

When As football winds down, basketball cranks up.
After seven months of offseason workouts, conditioning, practices and two tune-up exhibition games, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs officially tip off the 2013-14 regular season as they travel to Moraga, Calif., to take on St. Mary’s at 10:30 p.m. tonight inside McKeon Pavilion.

Simsboro wins boy’s opener

The Simsboro Tigers took on the Atlanta Bulldogs in their opening game Tuesday winning by the score of 79-56.
Leading for Simsboro were senior Xavier Ogunyemi with 21 points and seven rebounds, senior Jamarco Brown with 18 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists, sophomore Zach Taylor with 13 points and seven rebounds and senior Ron Abney with 12 points.

Cougars top Arcadia; Bearcats, Kittens host games tonight

Cedar Creek sophomore running back Donald Jenkins did not play against the Arcadia Hornets Thursday night in the regular season final at Cougar Stadium.
However, he was not wearing a boot, and said his calf is getting better, and he feels he is going to be ready for playoff action next week.
Even though one of his key players has not yet been cleared to play in the opening round of the playoffs, Creek head coach Ben Haddox said his team has enough playmakers to get a win each week.

WHEREAS, the Mayor and staff of the City of Ruston (“City”) are required by the State Legislative Auditor to complete and present to the governing body of the City the Louisiana Compliance Questionnaire that parallels those matters contained in the Laws Affecting Louisiana Government published by the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RUSTON, LOUISIANA:

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CITY TO ENTER INTO PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH GLOBAL DATA SYSTEMS, INC., IN CONNECTION WITH NETWORK ASSESSMENT
WHEREAS, the City desires to enter into professional services agreement with Global Data Systems, Inc. (“GDS”) to provide technical assistance to the City on producing a Network Assessment (the “Project”);
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF RUSTON, LOUISIANA:
1. The City enter into professional services agreement with GDS in connection with the Project.
