THE FOLLOWING resolution was offered by Eddie Milton Jones and seconded by Lisa Best:
RESOLUTION
A resolution providing for canvassing the returns and declaring the result of the special election held in Ruston School District No. 1 of the Parish of Lincoln, State of Louisiana, on Saturday, November 16, 2013, to authorize the incurring of debt and issuance of bonds therein.

KEYPOINT COMMUNICATIONS, LLC

KEYPOINT COMMUNICATIONS, LLC is proposing to install a lattice telecommunications tower near 1601 Vienna Street in Ruston, Lincoln Parish, Louisiana 71270 at latitude 32° 30' 40.7” north and longitude 92° 38' 14.9” west. The height of the tower will be 73.2 meters above ground level (167.0 meters above mean sea level). The tower is anticipated to have steady red lights, FAA Style E (L-864/L-865-/L-810). 18-wheeler turns over

At approximately 10:30 a.m. Tuesday the Ruston Fire Department as well as Ruston Police Department responded to an 18-wheeler turning over on Interstate 20. The driver of the 18-wheeler was traveling east bound on I-20 and reportedly had a medical emergency which caused him to go through the median and turn over.
Eric Brazzel, public education officer for RFD, said that upon arrival, bystanders had removed the driver from the vehicle and started CPR.

Christmas provided by DART angels

Program has helped area families for 10 years

For more than 10 years, the Domestic Abuse Resistance Team has been giving hope to their clients during the Christmas season.
Community Advocate Terrie Queen Autrey said program participants have been with DART for the past two years.
“We always have some very good partners who are willing to pick up last minute items when we need them to,” she said. “We know that there is usually going to be someone, some family that has something come up and needs our help.”

Blind walker struck by a vehicle

At approximately 3 p.m. Tuesday, the Ruston Police Department along with Ruston Fire Emergency Medical Services responded to a vehicle and blind pedestrian collision at Mississippi Avenue and Bonner Street.
Eric Brazzel, public education officer for the Ruston Fire Department, said the pedestrian was from the Louisiana Center for the Blind.
“The student was transported to Northern Louisiana Medical Center by ambulance,” Brazzel said. “The student appeared to have non-life threatening injuries.

USMC helps Toys for Tots

Since Nov. 20, the United States Marine Corps has been collecting toys for children in need who might not have a Christmas otherwise. On Saturday, the Marines will be wrapping up their Toys for Tots event at Walmart.
Marine Sgt. Anthony Shoemake, coordinator for the Toys for Tots event, said local residents have been donating toys to more than 15 locations since Nov. 20.

2014 fitness trends revealed

Looking for the hottest fitness trends? What’s in and what’s out? We have barely digested our Thanksgiving feast and already the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) has predicted what fitness developments will be trending in 2014.
A new winner was crowned in 2014. High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) topped the list of the 20 trends in its first year of being on the list. The number one spot was previously held since 2008 by educated, certified and experienced fitness professionals.
