RJHS FBLA students step up at district

in

Ruston Junior High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) carried 18 members to the District II FBLA Leadership Conference on Feb. 5. As the only middle level chapter competing against high school chapters, they had their best performance in their three year membership in FBLA. RJHS left the conference with three students who earned four excellent ratings and three other students who earned four superior ratings.

LSMSA students qualify for literary rally

Tech announces local high school rally winners

Winners in the 2014 North Louisiana District Rally qualifying for the State Rally in Baton Rouge have been announced following competition at Louisiana Tech on Feb. 22. Over 1,600 students competed from 18 parishes. Lincoln parish had the second longest list of winners.

RPD hosts DNA seminar for local law enforcement

Four local law enforcement agencies came together Tuesday to further their education on the topic of DNA.
Hosted by the Ruston Police Department, employees with the North Louisiana Criminalistics Laboratory in Shreveport were on hand to inform officers, deputies and agents on DNA analysis and the importance of CODIS (COmbined DNA Index System).
RPD Training and Public Information officer Sgt. Clint Williams said the purpose of the class was to help bring different agencies together.

Charter school in the works

GHF to submit an application

The Grambling High Foundation will be submitting an application to the state’s Board of Secondary Elementary Education for a Type II charter, after missing the deadline to submit an application for a Type III charter to the Lincoln Parish School District.
“We were still waiting on a piece of information and were unable to get the application in by the deadline,” said GHF president Gordon Ford.
