Chad Towns, Ag teacher at RJHS, has been using the greenhouse to teach horticulture techniques to his agriculture classes.  Plants grown in the greenhouse were used as a fundraiser for the program.

DOE gives new grants

Parish will receive funding for ‘next generation’

BATON ROUGE — The Louisiana Department of Education today announced the recipients of awards for the Believe and Prepare pilots, whereby schools and colleges work together to design preparation programs that provide students studying to be teachers with more time in the classroom and learning from seasoned educators. The proposals will inform future approaches the state will take to teacher training and development prior to candidates entering the classroom as full-time employees.

Tech photography student flourishes in spring

Doing anything less than his best is not an option.
This is how Deepanjan Mukhopadhyay approaches his work. Mukhopadhyay, a junior photography major at Louisiana Tech University from India, has already stacked up awards and a job history during his time at Tech, and he’s not planning to stop any time soon.
“I believe in talent but I also think I am not one of the most talented photographers out there,” he said. “I attribute my success mostly to hard work and a little bit to my intelligence.”

Meyer, Montelepre join in matrimony

Jessica Ann Meyer, of Ruston, and John Montelepre III, of Shreveport, were joined in holy matrimony in a 6 p.m. ceremony May 3 at Saint James Episcopal Church in Shreveport.

The bride is the daughter of Dennis and Pam Meyer, of Ruston. She is the granddaughter of Alton and JoAnn Pilcher, of Choudrant, Art and Karen Meyer, of Slidell, the late Bob Milner, the late Robert Roberson and the late JoAnn Meyer.
