It’s tax time again — which for many Americans means that a tax refund is on its way. If you’re going to get a refund this year, how can you use the money to your best advantage?

Resident celebrates 96th birthday

Recently, family and friends gathered to celebrate the 96th birthday of Odessa Dunn, of Grambling.
More than 70 people were in attendance for the occasion at the home of her daughter, Della Dunn Powell.
The table was graced with party foods, snacks and drinks as attendees partook in the festivities.
Everyone present shared their relationship with Dunn and told stories of how she influenced their lives.

Lions Club hosts speaker

A recent guest of the Ruston Lions Club was Regional Forester Mike Merritt. A past president of the Louisiana Forestry Association, Merritt spoke to the group of some of the changes in the forestry industry.

Ruston Elementary School: Students participate in science fair

Third Grade News
Third grade students have been super busy at RES. In Social Studies they are beginning a unit on government. They will learn about the three levels and three branches of government. Theywill also learn about different services that the government provides its’ citizens.
Because of Winn Dixie is the book they are enjoying reading now. They are analyzing the characters and how their actions move the story forward.
They’ve been working so hard in writing and have shown impressive growth since August. They are working on writing literary analysis paragraphs.

WILLIAM CHARLES "BILLY" ARRANT

A Celebration of Life for William Charles “Billy” Arrant, age 80, of Ruston will be held from 2:00PM - 4:00PM, Saturday, February 18, 2017, at the Presbyterian Church of Ruston in the fellowship hall. Billy passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017. Billy was born on August 27, 1936 in Ruston, LA to A.F. Arrant and Jessie Meig Arrant. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Ruston. Starting out at a young age, Billy was an icon in the natural gas industry.
