Chris Turner, national ‘Store Manager of the Year’ finalist

RUSTON — The Food Marketing Institute recently named Chris Turner, store director at Super 1 Foods in Ruston, a finalist in the organization’s 15th Annual Store Manager Awards Program.
This program recognizes store managers internationally who generate sales growth, provide great customer service, contribute to the success of the company and are an integral part of the communities they serve.

Wilburn, Carnahan join in marriage

Payton Danielle Wilburn, of Pineville, and Kyle Evans Carnahan, of Ruston, joined in holy matrimony during a double-ring ceremony at 6 p.m. June 14 at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer. The ceremony was officiated by the bride’s grandfather Beau Colle, and the Rev. Bill Easterling.

Payton is the daughter of Daniel and Kimber Wilburn, of Pineville. She is the granddaughter of Beau and Jo Colle, of Pineville, Delma Clark, of Pineville, and Don Wilburn, of Jena.

Martins celebrate 50 years

Jim and Jerri Martin will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Monday. The couple was married June 30, 1964. They gathered with friends and family in the Fellowship Hall of Mineral Springs Baptist Church on Saturday to celebrate the occasion.

Catching up with old friends

How can this be? June is almost gone, but I have had an amazing round of events.
The fun started when Mary Claire Smith and Diana Grigsby arrived for the weekend.
I got to know these two back when I was in my early 70s. We were all on the Ruston Community Theatre Board. Diana and I were in “Arsenic and Old Lace” together.
