Farmers Market to host Taste of Summer Fest Saturday

The Ruston Farmers Market will hold a Taste of Summer Fest from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the market building, 220 East Mississippi, in downtown Ruston.
This annual event will have some new activities this year, Lauren Jennings, market manager, said.
“There will be a homemade pie-baking contest with contestants using at least one ingredient from the market,” she said, adding that judging will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Applications are $5 and are available on the market’s homepage, www.RustonFarmersMarket.org.

LPSO to patrol waste collection sites

in

Litterers beware.
After Tuesday’s vote by the Solid Waste and Recycling Committee, members of the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office will now be patrolling the areas around the centralized waste collection sites in the parish.
The committee, made up of five members of the Lincoln Parish Police Jury, voted to enforce solid waste collection site regulations through the use of LSPO officers.

Officials encourage residents to participate

in

Lincoln Parish residents will have the opportunity to dump household hazardous waste from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday at the North Louisiana Exhibition Center for free during the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day hosted by the parish and the city of Ruston.

Ruston Lions Club

Pictured right: Lion Wayne Harris of the Ruston Lions Club recently addressed the group regarding some of his adventures as a player and coach in Texas Football. Harris spoke with great admiration of football great Darryl Royal.
