CHS FFA visit local nursing homes

The Choudrant High School Future Farmers of America officers visited local nursing homes to distribute Christmas ornaments. Agriscience students at Choudrant made the wooden ornaments as woodworking projects.
The FFA officer team enjoyed the opportunity to visit with experienced members of the community.

Mr. Max Lewis Cooper

A memorial service for Mr. Max Lewis Cooper, age 68 of Dubach, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston. Officiating the service will be Rev. Henry Watts. Services are under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Cooper was born September 7, 1946 in Homer to E. M. Cooper and Audrey Jordan Cooper. He died January 6, 2014 in Ruston. Mr. Cooper was an oilfield dispatcher for many years before retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing cards and being with his friends. Mr.

Residents who love pop music, enjoy dancing to a Cajun beat and watching for new talent will have that opportunity at 6 p.m. Tuesday when Caleb Elliott takes the stage at the Lincoln Parish Library Events Center.
Elliott, a singer, songwriter, cellist, guitarist, band leader and child prodigy, will perform a variety of free-ranging pop music.

RPD Tasers man at NLMC

Ruston Police Department officers were forced to use a Taser on a man taken to Northern Louisiana Medical Center after responding to a wrecked vehicle at approximately 8 p.m. Friday.
The wrecked vehicle was located at the intersection of East Mississippi Avenue and North Bonner Street. According to the affidavit, there was no driver present when officers arrived on the scene.
The responding officer reported the vehicle had broken a metal barrier in the private parking lot.

Kids found near meth

Welfare concern leads to arrest for drug possession

At approximately 2 p.m. Sunday, Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to 290 Virgil Road in Dubach, in reference to a welfare concern, where residents were allegedly making and using methamphetamines with children present.
According to the affidavit, upon arrival deputies requested to see the children present in the home to make sure they were in good health. A resident of the home cooperated and also showed deputies around the residence to show cleanliness.
