Janice Elizabeth Thomas Scriber

A courageous inspiration to everyone who knew her... Janice Elizabeth Thomas Scriber, went to be with her Lord Monday, March 10, 2014. Born on November 23rd, 1952, and raised in Spearsville, LA by her late parents, Arnold and Mildred Thomas. She was the Valedictorian of the 1970 graduating class at Spearsville High School. She later completed nursing school with academic honors at Louisiana Tech University in 1982. She fulfilled her career at Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston, LA as a Registered Nurse, where she touched many lives and fulfilled her passion as an Operating Room nurse.

Sonnier wins top prize

Ruston High School senior Keirstyn Sonnier has been working since she was 3 years old to win the state title of Premiere Dairy Exhibitor for Louisiana.
“People who start showing and competing as freshman can’t expect to win by their senior year,” she said. “I’ve been doing this my whole life — it’s really competitive.”

Changes proposed

LPPJ signs off on resolution

The Lincoln parish Police Jury approved changes to the personnel management and procedures policy in the Personnel and Benefits Committee meeting Tuesday night in order to comply with a prohibition under the the Affordable Care Act.
The prohibition states a waiting period for health insurance should not exceed 60 days of service following an employee’s hire date. Before, the waiting period for LPPJ employees was 90 days.
The committee also approved recommendations for incumbents on three separate boards.

MOD events set

Another team captain meeting was held Thursday at the Northern Louisiana Medical Center for the 2014 March of Dimes.
The meeting allowed those in attendance to give updates on their team progress and to discuss ways to have the most successful campaign.
David Darland and Sarah McKinnie, with Community Trust Bank, were on hand to discuss the 2014 Crawfish Boil set for 4-7 p.m. April 25 at the bank’s main branch on Trenton Street.
