Weatherspoon praises Tech’s new assistants

Teresa Weatherspoon likes what she has signed on to the coaching staff for women’s basketball at Louisiana Tech University.
The head coach of the Lady Techsers unveiled the hiring of new assistants Mike Ekanem and Drew Miller earlier this week.
Both Ekanem and Miller will serve as assistant coaches for Weatherspoon and the Lady Techsters as the sixth-year LA Tech head coach still has one coaching vacancy and the director of basketball operations position to fill.

GRAMBLING — For Grambling State University athletics, there’s the proverbial “good news, not-so-good” story regarding scholastic work during the 2012-13 season.
First, the not-so-good news: The men’s basketball team was one of seven Southwestern Athletic Conference squads pinned with postseason eligibility for 2013-14 by the NCAA for low Academic Progress Rate marks.
But then there’s some good news for Tiger Nation: the baseball, softball and bowling teams ranked No. 1 in APR numbers among league members.

Misty Hottle Hansford, age 36, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in Pittsburgh, PA following a short illness. She was born September 4, 1976 in El Dorado, Arkansas, and raised in Ruston, Louisiana by her loving mother, Kay Streeter, and step-father, Joseph Richard Hottle. She attended Ruston High School until she moved in 1992. Misty was full of life and always spoke her mind. She never sat still, as evidenced by living in Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, Florida, Tennessee, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. An artistic soul, she loved music and photography, and enjoyed playing video games.

Funeral services for Mrs. Darlene Willoughby Parkman, age 54, of Ruston will be 10:00 AM Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Cook Baptist Church in Ruston. Officiating the service will be Rev. Mike Holloway and Rev. Don McCormack. Interment will follow at The Garden of Memories cemetery in Minden, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Mrs. Parkman was born April 28, 1959 and passed away June 18, 2013 following a brief illness.

Inman, Strickland to wed

Randy and Jane Inman, of Dubach, are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Jennifer Elizebeth Inman, of Dubach, to Cameron Bruce Strickland, of Benton.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Malvin and Ophelia Brazzel and the late Floyd and Nova Inman. She is a 2012 graduate of Dubach High School.
