Grambling State’s Tigers look to rebound from a frustrating final seconds loss last Saturday as they play a 1:05 p.m. contest Saturday at the University of Evansville in Indiana.
The G-Men enter the game at 1-6 while the Aces stand at 6-6.
Grambling led for the majority of the second half — until the final 3.3 seconds.
That was when elation made a sudden transition to heartbreak as Lyon College’s Riley Jenkins took advantage of a defensive breakdown and nailed a long-range 3-pointer to put the Scots up by a point over the G-Men.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Having won four of its last five games, Louisiana Tech will play its fourth Southeastern Conference opponent of the season when the Lady Techsters face Texas A&M Saturday at 7 p.m. at Reed Coliseum.

Be safe when lighting the sky

With New Year celebrations just around the corner, local officials have taken the time to help each and every one of us have a safer holiday.
Ruston Police Department Sgt. Clint Williams said RPD urges residents to be safe around fireworks.
“They can injure you, they can seriously hurt you — even though you may think the ground is wet, never think that a fire can’t start,” Williams said. “We urge everyone to be safe and use good common sense when using fireworks on New Year’s Eve.”

Resolve to exercise more in 2014

in
Darden, Jessica mug.jpg

Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas have all come and gone, and in a few days everyone will be ringing in the New Year.
This has been a very exciting year for our little family from buying a house to coming back to work here at the Daily Leader, many things have happened for us to be thankful for this year.
But like most people do, I too feel the need to divulge my New Year’s resolution, which for some may not seem like that much of a resolution — even for me.
In 2014, I want to continue a healthier lifestyle. Not only eating better but also in terms of physical fitness.

Be choosey about your charity

in
Causey, Caleb mug.jpg

During the holiday season, it is really easy to give your spare change to whatever charity representative may be sitting outside of your local grocery or department store.
Charitable giving is something I promote for everyone, especially during the holidays. It is important that we help out those in need when they are unable to help themselves.
However, blindly donating to a charity just because they ask you for money and you want to make yourself feel better is not benefiting anyone. In our Internet-centric time, giving money to a charity that you know nothing about is inexcusable.
