Put Relay for Life on your list

in

I was a novice to the likes of American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life held on Friday night, but have become committed to making it a part of my spring regimen.  It is a wonderful time to mesh the old and the young, the healthy and able-bodied as well as those needing assistance. It all boils down to the fact that we should celebrate the lives of those in our presence and honor those who have gone before us.

Congress needs term limits

in

In my opinion it is past time for term limits for our federal senators and representatives.  Some congressional members have been in Washington for more than 30 years such as Pelosi, Reed, McConnell, McCain and Landrieu, to name a few.

Kindergarten news
We have been having a great time building our foundation as readers and developing our writing skills in Kindergarten.  The students are learning how to write like our favorite authors during Writing Workshop each day.  Mrs. Ray’s class recently held a publication celebration and invited principal Mangum. The students were so excited to share their wonderful stories with an audience.

Understanding the list of retirement risks

in
Moore, Byron.jpg

Question: As I approach retirement, I know there is a lot I need to protect myself and my wife against. I don’t want to be Chicken Little and run around scared all the time. But I also don’t want to be foolish and leave myself unprotected if I can do something about it. Do you have any advice about where I can start?
Answer: I applaud your willingness to face the issue head on. No, you don’t want to be Chicken Little. By the same token, you don’t want to be like the ostrich with his head in the sand, unwilling to face reality.

The 76 million Americans born from 1946 to 1964 have driven major national trends in their lifetime and are living longer than any previous generation. Today, with the oldest of them having turned 60, some are already retired, or have been forced to retire, and many more are thinking seriously about retirement.
And there’s a lot to think about for the aging boomer:
• Do you want to retire outright and never work again? How many years do you need to keep working before you can realistically afford to do that?
