Dunkin’ ’Dogs basketball inks star-studded class

in

Louisiana Tech head coach Michael White announced Thursday the signing of five high school basketball standouts in the early signing period.
The star-studded class resembles a starting lineup in itself with three guards, a forward and a center making up the five future Bulldogs.

Techsters heading to final week of volleyball action

Louisiana Tech will wrap up regular season play this weekend as the Lady Techsters hit the road to face Tulane at 7 p.m. tonight and Rice at 1 p.m. Sunday in the 2013 finale in Houston.
Tech (7-20, 1-11 Conference USA) will begin the weekend Friday night at Devlin Fieldhouse in New Orleans as they take on one of the top teams in C-USA in the Tulane Green Wave (24-3, 10-2) on the road. Tulane has won 11 of its last 12 matches and hold a 10-2 record in home contests.

Lady Tigers defeat UNO, Techsters to face Virginia

The Grambling State Lady Tigers picked up their first win of the season Thursday, taking a 76-52 win over UNO in New Orleans.
Southwestern Athletic Conference Player of the Year Joanna Miller paved the way for the big win with a 30-point, 11-rebound effort.
Miller was also perfect from the charity stripe, connecting on all 13 of her free throw attempts.
Following Miller in double-digit scoring for GSU were Tyler Anderson and Victoya Ricks with 20 and 10 points, respectively.

Bettianne Cordley Scheiber

Bettianne Cordley Scheiber, age 71 of Choudrant, died Thursday, November 14, 2013 in Ruston. Mrs. Scheiber was born in Harrison, VA October 17, 1942, daughter of William Paul Smith and Francis Virginia Bassist Smith.  Bettianne was a homemaker and took care of her children while her husband served in the Air Force. Later on, she enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter.

Funeral services for Mr. Bobby C. Brister, age 80, of Choudrant, LA will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Choudrant, LA. Officating the service will be Rev. David Harrell and Rev. Barry Brister. Interment will follow at Longstraw Cemetery in Choudrant, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA. Bobby was born November 28, 1932 and went to be with his Heavenly Father surrounded by his family on November 13, 2013 following a lengthy illness.

REGULAR SESSION

The Village of Simsboro met in regular session Monday, November 04, 2013 at 6:15 p. m. Present was Aldermen: Pam Durrett, Tiffany Cole and Doug Durrett. Also in attendance was, Glenn A. Turner, Meyer, Meyer, LaCroix and Hixson and Richard Durrett, Jr, Lincoln Parish Fire District.
Mayor Hendricks called the meeting to order. Alderman Pam Durrett voiced the prayer. Mayor Hendricks led in the Pledge of Allegiance.
ADOPTION OF AGENDA: A motion was made by Alderman Pam Durrett and seconded by Alderman Doug Durrett to accept the printed agenda.. Motion passed.
