Parish courtroom in need of upgrades

The Lincoln Parish Courthouse has served the area residents well since 1960, but many public officials and police jury members believe it is high time for an upgrade.
“I think it’s a good thing to pursue because our courthouse has aged-out,” Lincoln Parish Police Jury President Hazel Hunter said. “It’s just too old. It’s not up-to-date in terms of technology, heating and air, the elevator, space — everything.

A Ruston man is out on bond today after being arrested Thursday on charges of false personation of a peace officer and possession of a firearm on the premises of an alcoholic beverage outlet.
Jason A. Yates, 43, was arrested by Grambling police following a complaint filed by the manager of 3Docs Brewhouse that a man in possession of a firearm and stating he was a law enforcement officer was asking about a female in the bar, the arrest affidavit states.

in

NATCHITOCHES — Venus Lacy cried a lot this weekend.
She can certainly be excused, too.
The tears she shed over a three-day period resulted from pure joy and appreciation for having been a member of the 2014 induction class for the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.
A 6-4 post player whose dominating demeanor in the paint helped Louisiana Tech University’s Lady Techsters win their last NCAA championship (in 1988 over Auburn), Lacy became the 51st representative from Lincoln Parish to receive the state’s premier honor in sports.

062014 Rod and Reel C.jpg

Molido Creek ran cool and clear, meandering beneath the beeches and ancient oaks half a mile below our house.
Come summertime, I’d shuck my shoes, grab my fishing gear and head to Molido to lob a Hawaiian Wiggler next to cypress roots, hoping a bass would be fooled.
