Kitten’s Turner earns Class 1A accolades

Central Catholic’s Meoshonti Knight and Christian Life Academy’s Johnathan Stove built their resumes by doing a variety of things for their respective teams. The two senior standouts can now add one more thing to their list of accomplishments.
Knight and Stove headline the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Class 1A All-State basketball teams selected by a panel of sportswriters from across the state.
Grambling Laboratory’s Davauhnte Turner was a second-team selection on the boys squad.

April ends Tech b-ball journey

As March Madness fades into April championships, the journey for Louisiana Tech University’s men’s basketball team has ended.
But oh, what a ride it was!
We are grateful to have been able to be a part of Tech’s historical season as some of the biggest crowds to pack the Thomas Assembly Center in years watched as the Bulldogs rolled to a 29-8 record and National Invitational Tournament quarterfinals before it was all over.

Prescribed burning insight offered

Prescribed burning is an agricultural management practice and, in Louisiana’s row crop production, has often been used primarily during or soon after harvest. In grazing lands management, prescribed burning generally takes place in late winter or early spring. There are a number of environmental and other public concerns associated with this practice and the state has instituted a voluntary smoke and ash management training program to assist producers in addressing these concerns.

LMCH to host Si Robertson

Si Robertson, America’s favorite uncle and one of the most popular characters on television, will appear in Ruston on May 9 for a special fundraising event with all proceeds benefiting Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home.
“An Evening with Si Roberston” will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Louisiana Tech University’s Thomas Assembly Center and Robertson will entertain the crowd with stories of faith and family as only he can.
