Cedar Creek: Students place at state literary rally

More than half of the Cedar Creek students who attended the State Literary Rally in Baton Rouge recently placed in top spots in their academic and musical competitions.
Thirty students were invited to attend the event after being named the Division IV winner for the North Louisiana High School Rally in March. 
Finishing first at state were Erik Eklund (physics), Logan Kent (physical science), Sarfraz Ahmed (geometry), Mary Tyler Storms (French II) and Ethan Hunt (English I).

Ruston Freshman Academy: Freshmen take a holiday to bowl

Ruston High School’s Freshman Academy once again teamed up with Lincoln ACHIEVE to treat students who maintained the expected code of conduct with no disciplinary or behavioral infractions.  Staff welcomed 116 RHS freshman to Holiday Lanes in Bossier City, LA, for a fun morning of neon-glow bowling, arcade games, and more. FNB holds budgeting workshop for BGCNCLA

First National Bank held a Budget 101 workshop for approximately 25 employees of the Boys and Girls Club of North Central Louisiana on April 4. The purpose of this workshop was to give these young adults an opportunity to not only learn about the financial responsibility that comes with student loans, credit card offers and lease signings, but also the fundamentals about wise money management.

REGULAR MEETING
March 3, 2014
The Village of Choudrant Town Council met in special session. Present were Mayor Bill Sanderson, Alderman Ragan Aswell, Alderman Ricky Maier, Alderman Brandon Williams and guests. Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mayor Sanderson. Mayor Sanderson gave prayer.
Motion to approve the agenda was made Alderman William and seconded by Alderman Aswell. Approved.
Motion to approve the minutes of February 3, 2014, was made by Alderman Williams, seconded by Alderman Maier. Approved.

Student death remains mystery

Grambling State University faculty are urging GSU students, family and friends to cooperate with Lafayette police investigating the unexpected death of Alexandria Shelton.
The GSU community is in shock by the death of the senior criminal justice major, a 3.5 GPA student who enjoyed life, shared close family and friendship ties and was scheduled to graduate at a May 9 commencement.
