LPSB makes improvements

Lincoln Parish School Board members have been good stewards of the tax dollars afforded to the district by the citizens of Lincoln Parish.
Throughout the year, administrators and board members have been working with architect Mike Walpole to ensure students in our public schools have adequate facilities that are the most conducive to a safe, progressive learning environment.
There are several projects that the LPSB will wrap up before the start of the 2014-15 school year.

El Nino culprit of great weather

Let me warn you, it’s not going to last.
In fact, it’s already fading away.
But for those who spent much of your Fourth of July weekend outdoors, you probably took notice.
The weather was incredible.
It was rather hot and sticky during Peach Fest weekend, nothing new for Ruston. We’re used to watching temperatures climb near or over the 100 degree mark this time of year, and the Sunday night after Peach Fest it felt like you could swim through the air with the humidity being so thick.

Walter Lee Clark

Walter Lee Clark, formerly of Grambling, Louisiana passed away suddenly on June 12, 2014. He was born in Niagara Falls, New York on March 8, 1950 to the union of Dorothy Cutter Clark and Donald Clark. Walter was a proud member of the United States Air Force, a Vietnam Veteran, a former Grambling State University Police Officer, a Grambling, Louisiana Police Officer and a volunteer fire fighter in Alton, Texas. He truly loved his jobs and had great compassion for his fellow man.

Robert Bruce Thomas

Funeral services for Robert Bruce Thomas, a retired deputy sheriff, will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the Charles Garrett Community Center in Jonesboro at 2pm. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive East Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro from 4-8pm. Mr. Thomas was born on September 5, 1961 and passed away on June 30, 2014. He was 52.

THE LINCOLN Parish Special Education Department is in the process of updating Special Education Files. Records of those former students who have not been served the Department in the last five (5) years will be destroyed. If your child's Special Education records meet this criteria, you are offered the opportunity to acquire these records. Please contact the Special Education office within thirty (30) days from today's date at 318-251-9082 or at Lincoln Center, 1435 Mayberry Street Ruston. Records which are not requested by August 9, 2014 will be destroyed.
