The Village of Simsboro met in Special Session Monday, July 14, 2014 at 6:00 P.M. Council members present were: Doug Durrett, and Pam Durrett , Justina Hensley, CMC, and Elizabeth DeGrie with the Ruston Daily Leader.
Absent: Tiffany Cole
Citizens attended: Joe Reed
Mayor Willie Hendricks called the meeting to order. Pam Durrett voiced the prayer and Mayor Hendricks led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Former Ruston resident Marilyn Sewell said if it had not been for her experience in North Louisiana and, more specifically at Louisiana Tech University, she never would have found the courage to “follow the thread” of life which lead her to becoming a renowned figure in the progressive Unitarian Universalist movement and the author of the book, “Raw Faith: Following the Thread” which delves further into her life lessons and spiritual awakenings, providing a “thread” that she hopes will lead readers closer to love, compassion and healing.

LPPJ merges precincts

in

The Lincoln Parish Police Jury held a special meeting Monday night to adopt an ordinance providing the merger of certain precincts in Lincoln Parish, as well as an ordinance redesignating certain polling places in voting precincts.
Forty-five precincts were merged in the ordinance, leaving the total number of precincts and voting locations in the parish at 60.
