Ruston residents have the opportunity to hear city, business and Louisiana Tech University leaders talk about the future during the Tech Faculty Senate’s Third Annual Future of Ruston forum set for Thursday evening in the University Hall Auditorium.
The event begins at 5 p.m. with an informal meet-and-greet session, followed by the presentations starting at 5:30 p.m. The forum is free and open to the public.

Camp to hone football, life skills

Local youth will have an opportunity to not only hone their football skills, but life skills at the 2014 Fred Dean Hall of Fame Pro Day on Saturday.
“We are so excited about Pro Day,” Marketing Director for the Boys and Girls Clubs of North Central Louisiana Janet Wilson said. “It’s not just a chance to learn football skills but life lessons.”
Pro Day is a mini football camp that will be held on the Louisiana Tech football practice field from 9 a.m. to noon. National Football League players will be there to lead participants in sports-related activities and exercises.

LPNET makes distribution arrest

Ruston Police Department notified the Lincoln Parish Narcotics Enforcement Team of an individual having numberous controlled dangerous substances on Friday, which resulted in a distribution arrest.
According to the affidavit, Jamal Romel Jackson, 25, of 613 Minden St., was arrested at approximately 12:55 a.m. at his residence after law enforcement officials were notified of his having two active LPNET warrants for distribution against him.

Questioning the idea of home school

Come-and-go event addresses parent’s concerns

Parents who want to look into educational alternatives can visit the Lincoln Parish Library from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday in the community room for a come and go event hosted by Ruston Christian Homeschoolers.
Director for RCH Jenny Morse said the event will be a way for parents interested in homeschooling their children in the area to learn more about the organization.

AAUW to host meeting

American Association of University Women of Louisiana members and partners are set to tour Louisiana to advocate for fair pay legislation that is inclusive of all Louisiana workers. The tour will include issue forums, networking events and outreach at colleges and universities in support of fair pay.
Each stop will include a fair pay advocacy event. A fair pay press conference will be held on the Louisiana State Capitol steps at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday or Equal Pay Day.
