Summer Bridge Program comes to a close at GSU

Grambling State University’s 2014 LA GEAR UP Summer Bridge Program, “College Success Scholars — Bridges to Achievement” focused on various bridges or program components to expand and enhance students’ college and career readiness skills.
The bridges were designed to increase awareness and expectations of college while developing and enhancing knowledge and skills for academic achievement and career success.
This program has operated every year since its inception in 2005.

Sentencing set for Snow

The man responsible for stealing more than $50,000 from Louisiana Tech University has entered into a guilty plea and will face sentencing on Aug. 26.
Randal Chance Snow, 25, of 147 Louisiana Highway 3061, has entered into a plea agreement with the district attorney’s office.
According to recent court records, Snow changed his plea of not guilty to guilty on July 17.
Snow told the court that he understood there would be no further trial of any kind and he was waiving his right to trial by pleading guilty.

Grambling approved for FY 2014 block grant

The city of Grambling has been approved for the fiscal year 2014 Louisiana Community Development Block Grant.
The city was approved for funding up to $695,923. The project this money will be used for extending the sewer collection system to approximately 60 households within three target areas in the city.
This grant award is contingent upon the state’s receipt of FY 2014 LCDBG funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
In a letter sent from the Governor’s office, it stated an authorization to incur costs letter will be sent in the future.
