Mrs. Josephine M. Harrist entered into eternal rest Friday, July 11, 2014 after a brief illness.
Funeral services are scheduled at for Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, Louisiana. Visitation is scheduled from 1:30 PM till service time at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Rev. Dale Oden. Graveside services will follow at Colvin Memorial Cemetery in Unionville, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.

Louisiana taxpayers are the owners of the most comprehensive database in the country of missing and unidentified persons.
This was just one of the things that more than 150 people gathered in the Lincoln Parish Library learned on Thursday night from Mary Manhein, also known as “The Bone Lady.”
Manhein is a forensic anthropologist, so when a skeleton is all that’s left of a crime scene, she is called in to solve the case.
Manhein said she helped create this database with the assistance of the state Legislature.

Advocacy Center working to aid victims of sexual abuse

Ten years after District Attorney Bob Levy established the Pine Hills Advocacy Center, there is a strong contrast between what used to be pallid walls and colorless floors and the bright murals displayed in the rooms today.
When Director Carol Carson took over in 2012, she said one of her first priorities was to brighten the mood of a building that once created a drab atmosphere for an already devastating experience.
“I contacted (the North Central Louisiana Arts Council) and they were really wonderful,” Carson said. “Overall, we had about 25-30 artists come and help us.”
