ORDINANCE NUMBER 343
AN ORDINANCE TO ADOPT THE BUDGET FOR THE YEAR 2014-2015 AS PRESENTED BY MAYOR ROBERT JENSEN.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Town Council of the Town of Dubach That the Budget Presented by Mayor Robert Jensen, Is Adopted as Presented.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that this Ordinance shall be published in the official minutes of the Mayor and Town Council in the manner provided by law.
This Ordinance shall become effective as provided by R. S. 33:406(E).

REGULAR MEETING OF TOWN COUNCIL The Town Council of Dubach, Louisiana met in Regular Session Monday, June 16, 2014 at 6:30 pm at the Town Hall.
Present were Honorable Bob Jensen, Mayor and Council members Vallie Carrico, Robert Colvin, Donna Lewis, Davie Powell, Chief Croxton, Officer Todd Clark, and
Briana Arrington with the Ruston Daily Leader.
Absent: Hattie Graham
Public Comments: NONE
Citizens attended: Ruby Gray, Debbie Heard, and Markay Brown, Ken Green
The Meeting opened with Pledge of Allegiance. Invocation given by Robert Colvin.

Choudrant OKs budget

Fiscal year begins July 1

Council members unanimously approved the budget for the 2014-15 fiscal year during a specially called meeting of the Village of Choudrant town council this week.
After failing to meet quorum during the regularly scheduled June 2 meeting, the council members had to hold a special meeting to approve the year’s budget because the fiscal year begins July 1.

Sales taxes up in Farmerville

At a time when governments across the state and around the country are struggling with budgets, Farmerville Mayor Stein Baughman Jr. has something of a unique situation.
Putting together the town’s proposed 2014-15 budget, Baughman worked with town clerk Gay Nell Pepper to try and determine how much sales tax collections in Farmerville will continue to increase. Pepper said taxes collected for the fiscal year ending June 30 are 3 percent above projections used when the budget was adopted last year.

Lacy was powerhouse for Lady Techsters

Venus Lacy is a huge fan of “Forrest Gump” because the early life of the hero in the 1994 Academy Award Best Picture so closely resembles her own.
Like Gump, played by Tom Hanks in the movie, Lacy had to wear leg braces as a child, but once they came off, both the movie character on the football field and Lacy on the Louisiana Tech basketball court blasted off to sports stardom.
Lacy will culminate a remarkable journey when the Class of 2014 is inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in Natchitoches.

Summitt adds Burton, Thompson to staff

Louisiana Tech head coach Tyler Summitt announced two new additions to his staff as Eric Burton and Ashley Thompson have both joined the Lady Techster basketball program.
Burton will serve as the director of basketball operations and video coordinator while Thompson will service as the multimedia and creative services associate for the program’s social media accounts.
