Louisiana Tech opened football practice Monday with many new faces, especially on offense.

Safer route to school a possibility

in

If things go as planned, Simsboro students could have a safer route to school in the coming years.
During the monthly meeting of the Village of Simsboro, Markay Brown, of Meyer, Meyer, LaCroix and Hixson Engineers and Land Surveyors, was on hand to discuss the National Safe Routes to School grants. She informed aldermen, as well as attendees, that the deadline for this grant is October or November.
Simsboro Mayor Willie Hendricks said that Town Clerk Justina Hensley is currently working on that application.
“We will help however we can,” Brown said.

Ruston Aldermen approve master service agreements

in

Ruston’s Board of Aldermen on Monday approved a pair of master service agreements with two local engineering firms.
The agreements with Riley Company of Louisiana and Hunt, Guillot & Associates basically mean city officials won’t have to draft a separate contract for each project entered into
with the firms.
“The master services agreement will serve as that contract,” City Administrator Ed Pittman said. “It’s prudent to have a master services agreement in place.”
