The other day, I ran into my favorite drug store for a quick purchase. On my way out, the aisle I incidentally chose to use to walk toward the checkout counter turned out to be the seasonal aisle. Already, it was half-filled with a selection of marked down school supplies.

I got back in, but I’m not sure when the markets might go back down. And I don’t want to make the mistake of getting out at the wrong time again. How do I prevent it?

Variables lead to the right answer for retirement

If you think back to your math classes in high school or college, you may remember that many of the problems involved the use of variables.
Changing these variables around in any fashion would change the outcome of the problem.

Funeral services for Mrs. Francis McClellan Clark, age 96 of Simsboro, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Owens Memorial Chapel. Officiating the service will be Pastor Chris Witt. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Bettye Maxwell Smith

A celebration of the life of Bettye Maxwell Smith, age 75, will be held at First Baptist Church Ruston on Saturday, July 19, 2014. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00-11:00 A.M. and service immediately following. Bettye was born January 22, 1939 in Ruston, Louisiana, to Beulah Pipes Maxwell and Spencer Colvin Maxwell and passed away July 16, 2014. She was a native of Choudrant, Louisiana, and a resident of Haughton, Louisiana for 42 years. She will be missed by family and friends.

Franks, Chiasson wed

Jessica Franks, of Ruston, and Jordan Chiasson, of Thibodaux, joined in holy matrimony during a 6 p.m. ceremony July 19 at The Bridge Community Church.

The bride is the daughter of Marvin and Connie Franks, of Ruston. She is the granddaughter of Charles and Charlene Satcher, of Alexandria, and the late Marvin and late Ivy Franks.

The groom is the son of Mitch and Lisa Chiasson, of Thibodaux. He is the grandson of Donald and Karen Loupe, of Morgan City, the late Neddie Chiasson and Doris Picou, of Thibodaux.
