Armed robbery suspect arrested

Ruston Police Department officers have made an arrest on the suspected armed robbery that took place at the Super 8 Hotel on Sunday.
Taylor Dawn Beckley, 21, of 480 Pleasant Grove Road, Choudrant, was arrested by officers and charged with armed robbery on Wednesday.
Due to video surveillance footage available, on the night of the suspected armed robbery law enforcement personnel were able to identify Beckley, along with a white male.
The affidavit stated that Beckley’s arrest came after a law enforcement interview about the incident.

Offices make final move to LP Public Safety Complex

A project that has been many years in the making will become a full-fledged reality as various divisions of the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office begin operating out of their new facility Friday.
“This is a great thing for Lincoln Parish,” Sheriff Mike Stone said, during a short tour of the facility.
Stone said the new facility will be a hub for North Louisiana, providing training for personnel.
The following divisions within LPSO will begin operating out of their new home in the Lincoln Parish Public Safety Complex, located at 161 Road Camp Road:

Horse show season draws to a close

in

The Cotton Country Open Horse Show Association’s annual season is nearly drawing to a close.
Beginning at 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday, the organization will have their fourth out of five annual shows at the Northeast Louisiana Exhibition Center, located on Highway 33. Typically, approximately 50 individuals show up to test their mettle against the other horses and riders.
“You can come and enter the day of the show,” Loyce Miller, a long-time member of the organization, said. “Any horse is welcome, this is an open horse show. Negative Coggins (test) is all that is required.”

Outdoor tax-free weekend coming soon

in

Friday, Saturday and Sunday marks an occasion where outdoorsmen in the area can save a few bucks — the 2014 Louisiana Second Amendment Weekend Sales Tax Holiday.
“Act 453 of the 2009 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature enacted the Annual Louisiana Second Amendment Weekend Holiday Act that provides an exemption from state and local sales and use taxes on individuals’ purchases of firearms, ammunition and hunting supplies on the first Friday through Sunday of each September,” said Louisiana Secretary of Revenue Tim Barfield.
