RESOLUTION NO. 01-15
RESOLUTION TO ADOPT THE OFFICIAL TOWN CLERK
FOR THE VILLAGE OF SIMSBORO
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: The Village of Simsboro convened in Special Session the 17th day of April, 2014. After presenting to the Board of Aldermen a request to affirm Justina Hensley as the official Town Clerk, a motion was made by Alderman Tiffany Cole and seconded by Alderman Doug Durrett. Justina Hensley will begin on April 28th, 2014.
This Resolution was passed by the Board of Aldermen for the Village of Simsboro on the 17th day of April, 2014.

Village of Simsboro Special Called meeting

THE VILLAGE of Simsboro met in a Special called Town Hall Meeting Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 6:15 P. M. Present the Honorable Mayor Willie Hendricks and Aldermen Tiffany Cole, Doug Durrett, Pam Durrett and Doug Brewer, CPA.
Mayor Hendricks called the meeting to order. Alderman Pam Durrett voiced the prayer. Mayor Hendricks led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Hendricks presented the agenda to the Aldermen and asked for a motion to accept as presented. Motion was made by Alderman Tiffany Cole, Seconded by Alderman Doug Durrett. Motion passed unanimously.

Local vet recalls war

Humor is something that allows a person to cope with certain aspects of their lives. Ninety-year-old Ralph Tinsley has used humor as his tool to remembering his time in World War II.
Originally from Haynesville, Tinsley said he settled in Ruston upon serving his four years because his mother and his sister were living here in 1946.
And now decades later, Tinsley recalls back on his times in the Army and his family.

Dardenne tours parish

Lt. Gov. says tourism is key

Last year was a record-setting year for tourism in Louisiana, Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne told a group of Lincoln Parish business and tourism leaders Tuesday.
Dardenne was in Ruston as part of a four-day swing statewide tour celebrating National Tourism Week. The lieutenant governor heads the state Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism.
He touted recently released statistics showing Louisiana attracted 27.3 million visitors in 2013 — a 4 percent increase over 2012.

New clerk at Simsboro

The Simsboro Board of Aldermen met Monday night to discuss the introduction of the 2014-15 budget and pay bills.
Simsboro Mayor Willie Hendricks was absent and Mayor Pro Tem Pam Durrett stood in his place.
After the invocation and pledge of allegiance, April’s minutes were approved and bills for the month of April were paid.
Durrett gave aldermen Tiffany Cole and Doug Durrett time to review the budget for 2013-14 and the updated budget for 2014-15. Cole motioned the new budget be approved and the motion passed unanimously.

Choudrant FD assisted

in

The Choudrant Volunteer Firemen’s Association group will now have a little help from the Village of Choudrant with clerical duties.
During the May meeting on Monday night, the board of aldermen voted unanimously to enter into a cooperative agreement with the nonprofit group that works to raise funds for the volunteer fire department.
Mayor Bill Sanderson, who is also the CFD chief, told aldermen that the association has been vital to the fire department.
