O.K.'s Corral: Ex-RHS star Hadnot closing out great career

in

A cornucopia of notes along the Lincoln Parish (and elsewhere) sports trail:
• Add the name of Trey Hadnot to the list of outstanding athletes from Ruston High School. The sprint/relay star at Louisiana Tech University is winding down an honor-filled college career. Name it and he’s been recognized for it since signing on with the Bulldogs of veteran Head Coach Gary Stanley: All-American, all-conference, Most Valuable Track Performer, All-Louisiana and too many first place awards to count. He recently turned in career-best times for the 100-meter dash (10.36) and 200-meter dash (10.36).

The Ruston High School Bearcats went into Saturday in the driver’s seat for their Class 5A baseball series against Catholic-Baton Rouge at the RHS Baseball Complex.
But unfortunately for the Bearcats, the road to a state title is a bumpy one, as Ruston found out after dropping the final two games of the series and being ousted from the playoffs in the second round for a second-straight year.
After defeating the Bears 7-0 in Friday’s opening game,, the Bearcats lost 3-0 in Saturday’s first game before falling 6-3 in the finale.

Cedar Creek made fast work of its first-round Class 1A playoff game against Crescent City on Friday at Cougars Field.
The Cougars jumped out to an early lead on Crescent City and never looked back, capturing a 12-0 victory in the four-inning contest.
“It was a great way to start the playoffs,” Cedar Creek coach Ben Haddox said. “We started strong and put it away early. That’s the kind of confidence and momentum you need heading deeper into the playoffs.”
With 11 runs in the first three innings, the Cougars left no doubt about the eventual outcome.
