Air Force Airman 1st Class Raymond D. Walker graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate’s degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force.

GSU hosts 54th Annual Band Camp

In 1960 Grambling State University legendary band director Conrad Hutchinson formed a band camp for high school and junior high school students. Fifty-four years later the tradition continues.
Under the direction of Larry Pannell and his band camp staff, future musicians and possibly future Gramblinites are trained to improve their musicianship.
This year the camp had 475 students who traveled from Minnesota, Missouri, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana to take part in marching and educational sessions.

DALLAS — Louisiana Tech head football coach Skip Holtz threw it out there — the competition for the Bulldogs’ starting quarterback role is up for grabs.
Holtz talked about the five-player competition during Conference USA Media Days earlier this week in Dallas.
“It’s wide open for the taking,” Holtz said. “We’re looking for someone to step up and take it over, and we’re hoping that happens fairly early on as we begin preseason practices.”
