Lincoln ACHIEVE honors volunteers

Lincoln Parish remembered the true meaning of volunteerism at the annual Lincoln Parish Schools Community Volunteers Appreciation Luncheon, sponsored by Community Trust Bank on Tuesday in the Ruston Civic Center.
Senior Vice President of Culture Strategies for Community Trust Bank Ryan Kilpatrick opened the event with an explanation of his title and why it correlates with the importance of community.

Annual event set for Saturday

The annual March for Babies will be begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Maxie Lambright Intramural Center, on the campus of Louisiana Tech University. This year’s festivities will feature fun for the entire family in addition to the walk. The March of Dimes funds lifesaving research and programs and works to end premature birth, birth defects and infant mortality.

Tech presents ‘Art Without Walls’

For the fifth year, Lincoln ACHIEVE and The Rawle Enterprise Center at Louisiana Tech University collaborated to present the Art Without Walls exhibit. An outgrowth of the art project, the partnership also featured special collaborations within the School of Art at Louisiana Tech University and workshops completed with artist Frank Kelle Jr.

The Great Gatsby
Grambling High School Juniors and Seniors attended the play, “The Great Gatsby,” on March 20 at the Floyd L. Sandle Theater, located in the Conrad Hutchinson Performing Arts Center on the campus of Grambling State University. This is the GSU Department of Visual and Performing Arts final play of the 2013-14 season.
Dollars and $ense Reality Fair
The United Way of Northeast Louisiana invited the sophomores of Grambling High School to a Dollars and $ense Reality Fair on April 17. The seminar was held at the Ruston Civic Center.

A.E. Phillips places at math competition

The Department of Math and Computer Science at the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts hosted its 15th annual mathematics completion April 15.
The contest consisted of individual and team competitions.
The exercises in each contest came from algebra, geometry and other areas of mathematics, and not from any specific curriculum. The questions were designed to challenge students to draw from their knowledge of mathematics, to think, to synthesize concepts and to solve problems.

Emmanuel Baptist: Visits brighten spring

May is here and our 2013-14 school year is quickly coming to an end.  We have absolutely had a tremendous year!
Our 3- and 4-year-old classes had a spectacular time at the zoo. We loved visiting the animals, riding the boat, taking the class on animals native to Louisiana and on top of that picnicking on a truly amazing day God provided for us.
We visited with our friends at Princeton Place, Alpine and Russ Place during the month of April. We had a splendid time receiving Easter treats and passing out hugs.

I.A. Lewis: Rams ‘buck-up’ go-green

Top left: We are very proud of our students, our staff and our community and business partners who helped us win the district grand prize in the Go Green Awards. Our students led a major recycling effort, planted a garden, cleaned up the surrounding neighborhood, won Louisiana’s top award in the Great American Can Drive and planted trees around the neighborhood and community.

Lincoln Rotary hosts middle school awards

The Lincoln Rotary Club proudly announces the recipients of its annual Middle Grades Student of the Year Awards. Each student was honored at the May 2 luncheon and presented an award of achievement by club President Bob Myer and Lincoln Parish Superintendent Danny Bell, with an overview of their accomplishments announced by Rotarian Brady Dubois. Each awardee has maintained excellent grades, been active in extra-curricular activities and community service and served as a leader on their perspective school campus.
