CTB named one of the best banks to work for in the U.S.

Community Trust Bank has been named one of the top three Best Banks to Work For by American Banker magazine in the $3 to $10 billion range. The program, which was initiated in 2013 to identify, recognize, and honor the best banks to work for in the nation, is a project of American Banker and Best Companies Group.

Community invited to play video games created by students

Gamers, unite.
Communication design and computer science students at Louisiana Tech University have collaborated this quarter in an advanced web class to create various video games, which will be displayed todaywith a Game Launch.
The Game Launch is the culmination of 10 weeks of game design and development by five student teams. This collaborative effort has allowed each team of students to create their own mobile game.

‘Air Force friendly’ option available at Tech

Louisiana Tech University will offer a new “Air Force friendly” option for its popular online Master of Science in Engineering and Technology Management (MSETM) program, beginning in the winter academic quarter.
The online MSETM, offered through Tech’s College of Engineering and Science, is a 33 credit hour, nonthesis program that can be completed entirely online, making it ideal for busy Air Force personnel facing a high tempo of operations and frequent deployments.

Louisiana Tech looks to bounce back from a disappointing season-opening loss as the Bulldogs return to the Thomas Assembly Center for their home opener versus in-state foe Centenary tonight.
Before taking the floor to try to win their first game of the season and its 19th straight in the TAC, the Bulldogs will be honored for their Western Athletic Conference regular season championship a year ago with a ring ceremony and a dropping of the banner.

G-Men lose 114-71 to No. 17 Marquette

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Grambling State’s head coach Joe Price knew he’d be in for a long night against Marquette.
Chandler Thomas scored 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and A’Torri Shine added 17 in his first start of the season, but it wasn’t enough to keep Grambling State from losing 114-71 to No. 17 Marquette on Tuesday night. It was the 30th-straight loss for the Tigers.
“We just knew we were up against a tough team,” Price said. “They’re very physical.”

Tech headed to home of Duck Commander debut

When Louisiana Tech plays at Rice Stadium on Saturday, it will be playing on a field that holds a fair amount of Bulldog football history.
Before he made international fame making duck calls and starring one of cable’s highest-rated TV shows (Duck Dynasty), Phil Robertson was a quarterback at Louisiana Tech. His collegiate debut came on Sept. 18, 1965. at Rice Stadium against the Owls.
In that game at Rice, Robertson completed three of his five attempted passes for 37 yards and netted three yards on two rush attempts in the 14-0 loss.

RHS playoff tickets to go on sale today

First-round football playoff tickets for Ruston High School’s game against Natchitoches Central will go on sale at noon today.
Season ticket holders can go to the RHS main office and pick up their tickets by 1 p.m. Friday.
All tickets are $8.
Call RHS’s Virginia Rainwater at 255-0807 for more information.
Ruston enters the playoffs as the No. 13 seed in Class 5A while Natchitoches Central is the No. 20 seed.

Funeral services for Mr. Joe Allen Hall, 61 of Marion, LA, will be held Thursday, November 14, 2013, at 10:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Marion, LA. Officiating the service will be Rev. Bubba Hoggatt. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bastrop.
Mr. Hall was born on December 21, 1951  and passed away on November 11 , 2013. Mr. Hall was a member of First Baptist Church of Marion.
