Tech Track and Field nets 11 All-La. honors

Louisiana Tech received 11 accolades this week as the All-Louisiana track and field marks were announced by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA).
The team is made up of the best times in the various outdoor track and field events as provided by the national best times list and information supplied by the school sports information directors. Special awards were nominated by and voted on by SIDs, but they may not vote for someone from their own school.

World Cup fever spreads

Maybe it’s because the Fourth of July — America’s Independence Day — is fast approaching.
Or maybe it’s the fact that when it comes down to it, America loves celebrating its patriotism.
Whatever the reason, after years of building, World Cup fever has exploded across the country with Team USA dominating conversations and news coverage.
And the outbreak has spread to Ruston.
On Thursday, match-watching parties were not only held in local homes, but also at both the Thomas Assembly Center on the Louisiana Tech University campus.

Farm weddings are gaining in popularity as couples seek to make their special day unique. Hosting a wedding on a farm is also another way landowners can share their beautiful surroundings with others and increase their supplemental income.
So, what options do you have on a farm for weddings? There is always the barn and that is the popular choice. People prefer the traditional red barn over other versions. Brides and grooms who choose this type of informal atmosphere for their wedding like the rustic, lived-in surroundings of barns. For seating, farm weddings use benches or hay bales.

Couple faces drug charges

A Dubach couple was arrested Friday morning and charged with possession of schedule II methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia according to the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Lincoln Parish Narcotics Enforcement Team agents arrived at 3383 Highway 563 after receiving information that John Miller, 40, of 143 Oak St., was at the residence according to the arrest affidavit.
Officers reportedly made contact with the owner of the residence, Joseph Turner, who upon request, led agents to the bedroom where Miller was allegedly sleeping.

Tech forms partnership with Argentinian university

Professor Guillermo Badenes, head of the International Relations Office at the National University of Cordoba (UNC) in Argentina, recently visited Louisiana Tech University and brought with him a Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities, which was signed by UNC Rector Francisco Tamarit and Louisiana Tech President Les Guice.
