One day I guess I’ll learn. I should always take my voice recorder with me when I walk at Lincoln Parish Park. There is a chance I’ll meet someone with a story I need to share with my readers.
Such was the case last week when I chatted with a lady who wondered what species of fish she was seeing swimming in the shallows of the lake at the park. When she spoke, I resisted the urge to ask a redneck question, “You’re not from around here, are ya?” Her accent revealed she was from somewhere far north of Ruston.

Dean, Green, Walls.jpg

For sports junkies and particularly those with a bent towards the history of the games, nothing beats two events in late July and early August.
I am talking about the induction ceremonies for the Baseball Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
At this time of the year, the two best places in the country to be for a lover of the two sports are Cooperstown, New York and Canton, Ohio.
If you’ve never been to either place, I highly recommend it for your next “sports vacation.”

Excitedly planning for trip to Hot Springs

in
Irby, Marna.jpg

I’m taking a break from trying to decide what to take on my trip to Hot Springs, Arkansas. When you read this, that is where I’ll be. It’s a resort that Susan and Jonathan have chosen to get the family together. It should be lots of fun.
I spent this morning in the pool, trying to get in better shape to model my new bathing suit. There’ll be family there from Texas, Louisiana and Alabama, so that should create some interesting dynamics.

Embracing your roots, wings

Brewton, Cathy 12-13.jpg

In the past few weeks, I have had the wonderful opportunity to be with some of my closest friends from my childhood and teenage years. It has really been a reunion of sorts, as I had not seen one friend in more than 15 years.
