WHEREAS, the City of Grambling is a political subdivision of The State of Louisiana;
WHEREAS, the City of Grambling has in its possession a 1995 GMC Suburban, VIN number 3GKGC26K500788 which the Mayor and the Board of Aldermen have determined is no longer needed by the City of Grambling and is hereby deemed surplus property;
WHEREAS, the Mayor and the Board of Aldermen have determined that the appraised value of the GMC Suburban in its current condition is two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00);

Notice is hereby given that Lincoln Parish intends to apply for a federal grant for operating assistance and/or capital assistance to provide Rural Public Transportation of a non-emergency, ambulatory nature for the FY 2013-2014 program year. The application for assistance is pursuant to the Non-Urbanized Area Formula Program of 49 CFR 5311. Services will generally be between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, in the area encompassing Lincoln Parish, Louisiana.

Voters pass school proposition

in
$21 million public school improvements project approved

Ruston School District voters said “yes” Saturday to a $21 million public school improvements project.
Complete but unofficial returns show 68 percent of voters voted for the millage extension that will finance the work, while 32 percent voted against the proposition.
“We’re very pleased with the results,” Lincoln Parish School Superintendent Danny Bell said.
“This is going to have the Ruston School District well positioned with facilities for many years to come, something we can be proud of.”

McAllister wins 5th District race

Lincoln Parish voters mirrored the rest of Louisiana’s 5th Congressional District in electing political newcomer Vance McAllister as their next congressman.
Complete but unofficial returns from Saturday’s runoff show McAllister won 67 percent of the local vote to challenger state Sen. Neil Riser’s 33 percent. Both men are Republicans.
McAllister won 60 percent of the vote districtwide in the race to fill the 13 months remaining in former Congressman Rodney Alexander’s term. Alexander resigned in September to take a job in Gov. Bobby Jindal’s cabinet.

JA raises funds to cover project costs

Pictured above are members of the Junior Auxiliary at their annual jambalaya and bake sale Saturday. Funds raised during this event go to help cover costs on the following projects: the Christmas Clearinghouse, Methodist Children’s Home birthday party, MCH Christmas party, Color Happy, Dinner and a Movie, Helping Hearts, Junior Chef, Preschool Puppets, School Enrichment, Writing Contest, Visit with St. Nick and emergency assistance.
