Strong showing for Tech bowling team

HOUSTON — Following up on a highly successful season-opening tournament, the Louisiana Tech women’s bowling team maintained its momentum and earned a ninth-place finish at this weekend’s TRACK Kat Klash, hosted by Sam Houston State.

Rabb bags pronghorn antelope

Mia Rabb, 13, a seventh-grade student at A.E. Phillips in Ruston, was dove hunting in Texas with her dad Josh Rabb recently. He applied for and received a permit for a pronghorn antelope tag for Mia. She was successful and downed this antelope at a distance of 300 yards.

Scrimmages help prepare Techsters for Friday’s season opener

Louisiana Tech opens the season when the Lady Techsters host Grambling State at 11 a.m. Friday at the Thomas Assembly Center for the Education Day Game.
More than 4,000 local elementary school youngsters will be in attendance for the game between the Lady Techsters and the Lady Tigers, creating quite the opening day atmosphere in Ruston.

G-Men fall to Demons in hoops exhibition

GRAMBLING — Ivy Smith Jr. led four players in double figures with 19 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Grambling State University men’s basketball team dropped a 92-85 decision to Northwestern State in the Hurricane Harvey Relief Exhibition game on Monday night at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.
The exhibition game was played to raise proceeds those who were effected by Hurricane Harvey.

Magical season for GSU soccer

No, the Cinderella-like Grambling State University soccer team didn’t make it to the NCAA’s Big Dance.
But that doesn’t mean the Lady Tigers aren’t to be commended for a magical season.
With an NCAA Championship Tournament berth on the line, the Grambling State University women’s soccer team fought through 110 minutes to a 0-0 draw against Alabama State, but fell 4-2 in penalty kicks during Sunday’s 2017 Southwestern Athletic Conference Women’s Championship match in Prairie View, Texas.
But while they fell just short of the NCAA tourney, the Lady Tigers deserve congratulations.
