Proud of students and teachers

When one walks through the classrooms of Lincoln Parish schools, they will see plenty of learning going on.
Students give full attention, and are taught by educators who truly treat their students as one of their own.
The Lincoln Parish school system has its fair share of struggles, yet so does every school district in the state.
But one thing that Lincoln Parish does extremely well — it loves to reward their students and teachers for their hard work.

Murals will represent Ruston positively

Visitors making their way through Ruston will soon see the city’s appreciation of the arts through three painted murals.
The city of Ruston and the Ruston Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau have partnered to have the murals painted to reflect not only the city, but the growing arts community here in Lincoln Parish.

Dunkin’ Dogs hit road to play at UNCC

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Looking to regroup after a heartbreaking loss on Saturday, Louisiana Tech will be back in action for a two-game Conference USA road swing starting at Charlotte at 6 p.m. today in a contest that will be televised on ESPN3.
The Bulldogs currently sit at 10-6 overall and 2-1 in conference play, while Charlotte enters the contest at 7-8 overall and 1-3 in C-USA action.

Lady Techsters to host Charlotte tonight

Louisiana Tech will face its toughest task of the season when the Lady Techsters host the red-hot Charlotte 49ers at 6:30 p.m today. at the Thomas Assembly Center.
Tech (6-8, 1-2 C-USA) and Charlotte (12-3, 4-0 C-USA) meet for the fifth time in the series history with the two teams splitting the previous four games. Tech has dropped five of its last six games — three of those by two points — while the 49ers enter with a nine-game winnings streak.

A graveside service for Mary Beth Roberson of Simsboro will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Bernice City Cemetery, Bernice, LA. Under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Officiating the service will be her nephew, Ronnie Vail. Mary Elizabeth “Mary Beth” Graves Roberson was born in Bernice on March 21, 1933 to Howard and Jennie Lou Jackson Graves and passed away in Ruston on January 9, 2017. Preceding her in death are her parents; her brother: Billy Hudson Graves and her husband of 47 years: Wayne Roberson.

Louisiana Tech geographer earns prestigious national honor

Louisiana Tech University associate professor of geography Taylor E. Mack is the latest recipient of a rarely awarded distinction conferred by the Conference of Latin Americanist Geographers.
The CLAG Outstanding Service Award, a prestigious honor which has only been awarded five times since 1970, is given to a member of the association who has earned distinction and performed major service to the organization over a period of years.
CLAG is the premier national organization of geography professionals specializing in the study of Latin America.
