Life Choices holds ribbon cutting at new location

The Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony on April 6 at the new location of Life Choices of North Central Louisiana — 606 Belue Lane. The organization is a Christian, pro-life ministry providing practical, emotional and spiritual assistance to women, men and children who are experiencing a pregnancy-related crisis. They offer: Pregnancy Tests, Peer Counseling, Referrals, Abstinence/STD Counseling, Healthy Relationships Education, Growing Great Kids/Home Visiting Program, Ultrasounds, Parenting Classes, Mentoring Programs, Post Abortion Recovery Help, etc.

Texas provides excitement galore

April means different things to different people. For some, it’s time to get gardens planted. This is the time of year when eggs are dyed and Easter finery is selected. For me, April means I get my work done ahead of time and I start getting ready for my annual trek to the Lone Star state to chase wild turkeys.
This year, I joined four hunting partners leaving home for the 10-hour drive to fantastic Russell Ranch near Menard, Texas, a region that looks as different as daylight and dark from north Louisiana. Where we have pines, out there is mesquite and cactus and rocks, lots of rocks.

The Lincoln Parish Library staff invites the public to explore the dazzling world of science fiction and fantasy books brought to life through the medium of movie art as they welcome a collection of movie posters and related art from the collection of local professor Saul Zalesch to the Chautauqua Gallery at the Lincoln Parish Library during National Library Week.

Egg Hunt set for Saturday

More than 5,000 multi-colored eggs will be scattered in an area of Ruston’s Greenwood Park playground beginning at noon Saturday, as community young children get ready to participate in the seventh annual citywide free Easter Egg Hunt and hamburger lunch, sponsored by First Baptist Church.
The Egg Hunt festivities will be held at 1306 Cornell Avenue.

Search for robbery suspect underway

The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s help in locating Johnny Reed.
Reed, a convicted felon, is wanted for second-degree robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He should be considered armed and dangerous, Major Chad Alexander, LPSO administrative commander and public information officer said Thursday.
“The suspect is from the area and there is nothing that indicates he has left the area,” Alexander said.
The incident for which Reed is wanted occurred on March 24 in southeast Lincoln Parish, Alexander said.
