Newcomers add depth to Lady Techsters post

Louisiana Tech is in its second full week of official women’s basketball team workouts with head coach Brooke Stoehr and Co. continuing preparation for the Nov. 10 season opener only one month away.
Through the first nine days on the floor, Stoehr has been pleased with the everyday effort on the court from her young bunch.

Bearcats win in straight sets

Ashley Ambrose (above) turned in 15 assista Tuesday night to held lead the Ruston High School volleyball team, ranked No. 3 in the state, to a straight sets and win over Parkway. Reagan Lee led the Bearcats with 11 kills and three aces while Mya Terry added eight kills and four digs. The Bearcats (13-2) will next play Ursiline Academy (21-4) at 5 p.m. Thursday in New Orleans.

Danni Madden

Funeral services for Danni Madden will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Dubach. Brother Cory Bruce will officiate. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Ruston.
Danni was born on August 1, 1985 and passed away after a lengthy illness on October 7, 2017 in Dubach, LA. She was a retired nurse.

ARToberfest set to begin Friday

Tickets are still available for the North Central Louisiana Arts Council’s eighth Annual ARToberfest which will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Norton Building, located at 207 West Mississippi in downtown Ruston.
“ARToberfest, sponsored by Durrett Law and Title, is NCLAC’s beer-tasting fundraiser that supports arts programming such as the Southern Circuit Independent Film series,” Jessica Slaughter, executive director of the North Central Louisiana Arts Council, said.

Tarbutton ceremony reset

Officials have changed the time for Wednesday’s groundbreaking ceremony for the Tarbutton Road interchange and overpass project at Interstate 20. The event will be held at 1:30 p.m. instead of the originally announced 10:30 a.m.
Gov. John Bel Edwards, who had been expected to participate, now is not scheduled to attend, Erin Buchanan, public information officer for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, in Bossier City, said this morning.
