Crawford, Johnson exchange vows

Carmen Lea Crawford, of Ruston, and Jereme Brian Johnson, of Jena, were united in marriage in a 7 p.m. ceremony Aug. 22 at First Christian Church in Monroe.

The Rev. Dominick DiCarlo Jr. officiated the double-ring ceremony.

Carmen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Douglas Crawford, of Ruston. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Eugene Shankles, of Ruston, Carmen Alexander Crawford, of Ruston, and the late Clyde Hartwell Crawford.

Jereme is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Aron Johnson, of Jena. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Burnis L. Walker, of Jena, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Davis Leo Johnson.

Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore an ivory couture scooped strapless gown designed by Amy Kuschel. The dress was made of Duchess silk satin and featured an extended drop waistline and a flared chapel-length train with a balloon hemline. The gown was accented with an ivory embellished silk satin sash made of Swarovski crystals and freshwater pearls, and covered buttons extended down the back.

Complementing her gown was a single layer, handcrafted, chapel-length veil of ivory illusion tulle with a fine silver edging.

The bride carried a bouquet of white lilies, white dendrobium orchids and white mini calla lilies with white freesia.

Paige Crawford, of St. Augustine, Fla., served as the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Amanda Johnson, of Jena, Alexa Crawford, of Granite Bay, Calif., Tatum Johnson, of Ruston, Lacey McCarty, of Grayson, Haley Hay, of Ruston, Taylor Richardson, of Ruston, and Abbie Mitchell, of Ruston.

The bridesmaids wore Alvina Valenta designer satin dresses in frosted violet with a fluted empire waist with keyhole and halter neckline accented with a flower petal design. They carried white lilies, mini calla lilies, white and purple freesia and purple listanthus.

Jordan Johnson, of Jena, served as the best man. Groomsmen were Stan Crawford, of St. Augustine, Fla., Adam Williams, of Jena, John Paul Randall, of Olla, Clint Cooksey, of Jena, Cody Cooksey, of Jena, Justin Gibson, of Jena, and Will Moak, of Ferriday.

Flower girls were Briley Howard, of Zachary, and Gracee McClure, of Jena. Ring bearers were Jack Prejean, of Zachary, and Walker McClure, of Jena.

Music was provided by Walter and Haley Scriber, soloist and duet, Jessica Walker, trumpet, Lydia Covey, harpist, and Janet Williams, organist and pianist.

After the ceremony, a reception was held at Bayou Desiard Country Club.

A rehearsal dinner, hosted by the parents of the groom, was held at the Vantage Building on Aug. 21.

After a honeymoon to the Bahamas, the couple will reside in St. Augustine, Fla.

An engagement party was held Aug. 4, 2008, at the Jena home of Mr. and Mrs. John Aron Johnson.

A Honey-Do shower was held for the couple on May 2 at Loe Places. Hosts were Jennifer and Reggie Loe, Nan and Mike Brunetti, Marcia and Hank Cooksey, Pat and Roger Dobbs, Ashley and Jimmy Gibson, Kathy Johnson, Marlene and Tommy Joy, Kay and Marty McClure and Janet and Jamey Walker.

A bridal shower was held June 13 in the home of Carmen A. Crawford. Hosts were Kathy Howard, Heather Prejean, Presly Howard, Tracy Crawford, Toni Crawford and Sara Crawford.

A bridal brunch was held July 18 at the home of Terri Johnson. Hosts were Terri Johnson, Candee Anderson, Faith Arrant, Denise Cox, Sheryl Durrett, Cindy Wilday, Kathleen Mitchell, Annie Richardson and Susan Sandlin.

A bridal shower was held July 19 at the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church in Jena. Hosts were Rexie Tweedy, Pam Dean, Nannette Watkins, Michelle Wilson, Denise Moody, Janis Braud, Kay McClure, Cheryl Williams, Judy Ogden and Barbara Wilson.

A bachelorette and lingerie shower weekend was held from June 19-21 in Dallas. Hosts were Paige Crawford, Tatum Johnson, Taylor Richardson, Lacey McCarty, Brie Dobbs, Maggie Powell, Amy Cooksey, Dani Pendarvis and Rachel Woodward.

A recipe and container shower was held July 23 at the home of Laura Scriber. Hosts were Laura Scriber and Caryl Scriber.

A bridesmaid’s luncheon was held Aug. 22 at the Holiday Inn banquet room. Hosts were Leah Hall, Ann Lary, Pam Plummer, Jennifer Lord and Debi Hauser.
