The 2024 season may have featured a young roster for the Cedar Creek softball team, but the Lady Cougars still proved to have top-end talent in District 2-1A, evidenced by six players receiving first team All-District honors.

“I’m just excited for the girls and the district recognizing their achievements this season,” Creek head coach Julie Riser said. “All of the recognition is well deserved and a testament to the hard work they have put in.”

Creek’s first-team selections included junior infielder Mallory Smith, who hit .652 with 9 RBIs over six district games, along with senior outfielder Olivia Underwood (.538), freshman infielder Anna Claire Fitzgerald (. 368), senior outfielder Bailey Adams (. 412, 5 RBIs), sophomore designated player Ainsley DeMent (. 300), and seventh grader Ava Lantrip (.250).

The Lady Cougars had four underclassmen make second team with freshmen infielders Hydi Boyd (. 222) and Cadence Spangler (.308), along with eighth grader Presley Wall (. 364), and seventh grader Kendall Ramsey in the circle (4.74 ERA, 12 K).

St. Frederick had eight players make first team, including District 2-1A MVP Abigail Creighton, while Ouachita Christian placed seven on first team.

Cedar Creek finished the season 13-15 overall, 3-3 in district play, and returns seven starters off its playoff squad.
