Ruston strong at LSU Last Chance Qualifier

Ruston High School senior Stephen Rogers finished second in the Boys Long Jump at the LSU Last Chance Qualifier on Saturday with a personal-record leap of 6.69 meters.

Ruston's William Ayim turned in a second-place individual performance in the Boys 1,600-meter run with a personal record of 4:29.55 (adjusted).

BATON ROUGE — Ruston High School turned in a strong showing at the LSU Last Chance Qualifier indoor meet on Saturday.

The RHS Boys 3,200-meter relay team of Dyllon Nimmers, William Ayim, Tristan Duvall and Caleb Babineaux turned in the top showing of the day for the Bearcats with a first-place finish of 8:16.84 (adjusted).

RHS also got a second-place showing in the Boys 1,600-meter relay as the team of Jereun Wagner, Bryston Lewis, Joshua Anding, and Stephen Rogers finished with a time of 3:30.39 (adjusted).

Ayim added a second-place individual performance in the Boys 1,600-meter run with a personal record of 4:29.55 (adjusted).

Ruston High’s Girls 800-meter relay team consisting of Shinaya Branch, Erica Davis, Tyra Fields and Jada Williams also brought home a second-place finish with a time of 1:44.40 (adjusted).

“It was a great all-around showing and gives us good momentum as we get ready to head into the state indoor meet,” said Ruston head track and field coach Allen Whitaker.

The Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Indoor Track & Field State Meet will be held on Feb. 22 at LSU.
