The Louisiana Tech tennis team swept its third straight opponent on its home courts, defeating LSU-Alexandria by a final score of 7-0 on Wednesday at the Tech Tennis Complex.

Tech (5-2) started the day by taking all three doubles courts, getting wins of 6-4 (Olga Bienzobas/ Alexia Romero), 6-2 ( Valentina Vasquez, Ana Rodrigues), and 6-3 (Zoie Epps/Tiffani Nash).

The dominance continued in singles as Vasquez, Nash, and Romero each did not surrender a single game, winning 6-0, 6-0 on courts three, five, and six, respectively. It was Nash that delivered the clincher.

Epps provided the fifth point for the Bulldogs, defeating Joline Roesch 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 4 spot. Rodrigues followed suit from the No. 2 position, besting Annemart Kleijn 6-3, 6-4. The match of the day came on court one between Bienzobas and LSUA’s (0-1) Olivia Scattini. Scattini pulled out the first set in a tiebreaker, but Bienzobas responded with a 6-2 win in set two.

The two then went into a third set tiebreaker where Scattini jumped out to a 7-3 lead before Bienzobas won seven of the next eight points to claim it, 10-8.

Tech improved to 31-4 at home over the last three-plus seasons. The Bulldogs have now won 16 of their last 17 home matches.

Tech will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Houston. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
