‘Manny Masher’ named Hitter of the Week

Louisiana Tech first baseman Manny Garcia was named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Hitter of the Week following a 7-for-16 (.438) performance at the plate this past weekend against Southern Miss.
Garcia saved his best game of the weekend for Sunday evening’s series finale against the Golden Eagles, going 4-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI. The Caguas, Puerto Rico native capped off his performance with a two-out, two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Tech a 7-6 win over Southern Miss.
Garcia’s homer came as the Bulldogs faced their final out of the weekend, helping Tech earn the series split and move to 5-3 against Southern Miss this season.?
