Rare Thursday night games will bring the curtain down on two of Lincoln Parish’s high school football teams.Ruston High and Cedar Creek will wrap up their regular seasons Thursday with district games.
The Bearcats (7-2, 3-1) head to Winnsboro to face Franklin Parish (3-6, 1-3) in District 3-4A, while the Cougars (3-6, 2-2) will trek to Monroe for a District 2-1A assignment against Ouachita Christian (5-4, 3-1).

Kickoff times will be 6:30 p.m. for RHS-Franklin and 7 p.m. for Creek-OCS and Grambling-Logansport.
Ruston will try and win for a fourth straight week and build momentum and confidence for the Louisiana High School Athletic Association playoffs with their first Thursday game of the season.
The Bearcats were a 21-14 winner over Monroe Wossman at home last week, but had to hold back the Wildcats in the final half after jumping out ahead 21-0 by intermission.
“We came out ready to play and our players were focused, but we made too many mistakes in the second half and Wossman took advantage of it,” said RHS head coach Billy Laird.
Featured in the Bearcats’ 370-yard offensive production was a 101-yard and two-touchdown performance by senior running back Carlos Wilson.
The “Johnson and Johnson” tandem for RHS — quarterback Colby and running back Ja’Ren — combined for 145 rushing yards.
Cedar Creek held on in the final quarter to grab an 8-6 league win against Delhi on a sunny day, yet muddy turf at Cougar Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Running back Austin Ginn had a 10-yard run and quarterback Jordan Scelfo a two-yard conversion pass to wideout Robert Feron to give the Cougars the two-point edge over the Bears.
Several key defensive halts in the final quarter by Cedar Creek prevented Delhi from pushing across a go-ahead TD.
Grambling High dropped its second straight 1-1A game with a 22-7 loss at rival Arcadia, which gained its eighth consecutive victory.
The Kittens’ touchdown came on a 50-yard pass from quarterback Rockese Goree to wideout Jamarcus Markray to give GHS a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.
RHS, GHS DROP: Both Ruston High and Grambling High took a dip in the weekly Louisiana Sports Writers Association state poll announced Tuesday. The Bearcats went from No. 6 to No. 7 in 4A and the Kittens fell from No. 9 to No. 11 in 1A.
By virtue of its win over the Kittens, Arcadia broke in to 1A’s Top 10.
