Tanya Lynn Carney

Tanya Lynn Carney, age 63 of Bernice, LA, passed away at her home on September 28, 2020, after a short battle with a rare cancer.

Memorial and visitation services will be held under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. October 17, 2020, at the Carney Arena, located at 248 Rodeo Drive in Bernice, LA. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. Officiating her services will be the Rev. Mike Bush and Rev. the Johnie Adkins.

Tanya was preceded in death by her parents Prentice and Rougon Cox.

urvivors include her husband Tom Carney; son, Wyatt Carney (Jodi), daughter Laurin Scoggins (Will); grandchildren, Addison and Cord Carney and Claire, Tess, and Witt Scoggins; nephew, Barry Carter (Lind say) and their children Cade, Anna Cate, and Cooper Carter.

Tanya was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a beloved teacher for 33 years. She was a loving daughter, a faithful wife of over 40 years, and an exceptional mother and grandmother.

She was a very active part of the rodeo community for her entire life. She never met a stranger and always had a welcoming home for everyone. Tanya had a true zest for life and never missed the chance for an adventure, especially with her best friend Vicki.

Tanya leaves behind a legacy of love that is evident by the countless number of family and friends that are left behind to cherish her memory.

Pallbearers are Eric Savant, Casey Martin, Wayne Hitt, Larry LaBorde, Tyler Waguespack, Rowdy Parrot, Tim Austin, Rob Pierce, Gabe Soileau, and Hudson Speed. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Tanya (T-dog) Carney Memorial Scholarship Fund at Origin Bank in Ruston, Louisiana.
