Cynthia Niklaus Brown (“Cindy”) of Metairie, Louisiana passed away on October 24, 2009 at the age of 55 in Houston, Texas after a brief battle with cancer.  She was the beloved wife of William Rainey Brown IV and loving mother to Kathryn Egan Brown, Laura Kristen Brown, and Emily Erin Brown.  She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Rita Mae Niklaus and William Henry Niklaus, Jr.  She is also survived by three sisters: Phyllis Niklaus Salas, Gwendolyn Niklaus Krey, and Justina Niklaus Heimdal.  Cindy attended high school at Sacred Heart Academy and graduated with a Bachelors of Science from Louisiana State University.  Over the years, Cindy taught Math, Chemistry, Physics, and Physical Education in both Louisiana and Dubai, United Arab Emirates.  She lived on four continents and traveled to over 25 countries; her fascination with global beauty ultimately unearthed her talents in photography, sculpture, and painting.  A memorial service will be held at noon on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at St. Dominic Church, 775 Harrison Avenue, New Orleans, Louisiana, 70124.  Family visitation will precede the service starting at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Cynthia Niklaus Brown may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
