Clio Thalia Faye Brown Williams (10-27-2009)
Photo of Clio Thalia Faye Brown WilliamsClio Thalia Faye Brown Williams was born February 25, 1949, in Ruston, LA.  She was the second of two children, born to the union of Earl Watson Brown and Mable Alena Patterson Brown, both preceded her in death.   In 1967 Faye married Bobby W. Williams and from this union, of 27 years, they were blessed with three children.
In 1967 Faye graduated from Ruston High School.  Her primary education was completed in the all Black school system of Lincoln Elementary (K-7) to Lincoln High School (8-11).  In her senior year, she was one of the first three blacks to voluntarily integrate the all white Ruston High School.  While in high school she was an honor roll student participating in numerous endeavors, such as basketball, choir, Homecoming Queen, Ms Lincoln High.  She continued her education at Louisiana Technical University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and was accepted into the Sisterhood of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.  Additionally, from Grambling State University she earned an Associate of Criminal Science Degree and a Masters in Criminal Justice.  Finally, striving for continued self-
improvement she pursued and received a Masters of Divinity from Morehouse University.
In 1958, Faye united with New Hope Baptist Church, Ruston, LA, at a tender age of nine.  There she remained active in numerous church auxiliaries including the Adult Choir, Jolly Matrons, Sunday School as a Teacher, Vacation Bible School, Youth Leader, Sunday School Pianist, Delegate to the Liberty Hill Baptist Association, Delegate to the National Baptist Congress and Convention, Secretary of Supplies and many other responsibilities.  Her primary passion was the children of New Hope.  Her mother’s spirit led her and her brother to create the Mable P. Brown Academic Scholarship.  She was one of the founders of New Hope’s first Children’s Choir and Praise Drill Team.  Faye was a staple in New Hope; organizing functions in almost every facet of church activities.  Learning, educating, organizing and participating in church activities were the high light of her life and she served faithfully until her passing. She joined the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Department in 1980 and served with honor for 29 years.  She had the distinction of being the first Black Female to be hired by the Sheriff’s Department, first Black and first Female to serve as Sherriff’s Department Probation Officer and First Black Female to be post certified (to carry a weapon). Additionally, she was a graduate of the Police Academy (2nd highest in class) and Radio Dispatch Operator. She is now standing tall and whole and there is no more pain.  She fought a good fight with dignity and courage and on October 22, 2009, she shed her earthly garments for her heavenly robe and crown.  She leaves to cherish her memories: three sons: Lieutenant Colonel Reginald J. Williams (Kecha) , Rory J. Williams and Ryan J. Williams;  one brother Reginald A. Brown; one Sister Laketha Richards; nine grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews; a special friend, Bill Smith; and other relatives and friends. Two weeks before her passing her Doctor told her that she was dying, her response was in a way that only Faye can say it “I ain’t going nowhere”…
